THE ORIGINS
Michael’s artwork has evolved from traditional footed vessels, to transitional asymmetric sculptural blown forms and ultimately to larger, more complex glass and metal sculpture. These images of his earlier work, dating from 2000 through 2010, are interspersed with personal travel photos of architectural influences.
Michael’s award winning glass art has evolved into a bold use of positive and negative forms, and a distinctive blend of geometric and fluid line. He creates powerful yet understated reinterpretations of the architectural environment that surrounds us. Indigenous building traditions, neoclassical proportion, art deco patterns, and modern cityscapes can be seen in his use of his materials, and in the outward appearance of Mikula Glass sculptures and vessels.
